So I went location scouting David Whitwell for a visual album we’re shooting later this month. I wanted to work on scale on this project, so I’m flexing some #photography skills too.
I shot and edited this piece a while back in March 2018 for Okay Player, but it never aired. Anyway, think of this video as a look at the other side of Jussie Smollett. The part that gravitates people to him.
So it's been a while since I've posted videos consistently here. There's a reason. And it's personal. But I'm finally ready to talk about it.
So shot, directed, edited and produced this music video for local Newark Hip Hop phenom, J Read. You can find the track, "Everything," on his EP titled "The Grim Wolf Sessions"
It was a joy to work with so many talented people, and on such a dope song!
Back in 2017, I recorded an interview with a good friend of mine, David Crownson who happens to also be the creator of Harriet Tubman : Demon Slayer. The interview lasted 4 hours - because we both have ADD and like to talk a lot. So I cut out the rabbit trails, and made a series out of it, called: "Brief Talks w/ David Crownson" Enjoy!
move toward #experiementalfilm
So it's been a while since I've posted any new stuff on this page, and that's because of a lot things. BUT. That period has ended, and now there'll be a ton more things flowing out way more often.
I shot this photo series, while filming an untitled Sci Fi Thriller out in Haiti. I rarely try to center cis male perspectives, but in this series, I wanted to capture feelings of family, isolation and restlessness we all felt as Black men during this process. It was something I felt ought to be captured in some way. I dunno, I’ll write more on it later, once everything’s processed.

Way to way back. DC's history with skating.
So, I'm looking for new clients. If you know anyone that's looking for an Emmy Award-Winning Video Editor, comment below, or just email me at: Paul@TheNoticeBlog.com
Midterm Elections are here! Don't forget to #Vote I jumped back into my archives, pulled up some old clips, tossed them with some new. I dunno what I'm saying, just watch the video ...and vote!

Recently, New York City has seen a growing number of stories related to gangs-related crimes. It’s sparked several projects aimed at ridding NYC of gangs for good. But… Who are the people the NYPD call gangsters? We take a look, with JustLeadership USA.
A quick prose written from the first few nights in Nairobi
With crime at an all-time low, NYPD Chief of Detectives, Dermont Shea, is spear-heading a new media frenzy to encourage the city to continue spending millions in policing: Gangs are Coming Back. But are they?
Happy Labor Day! Take a look at the teaser of our latest doc: Shaw Boyz, which follows the groups of Black & Latinx skaters formed after the creation of DC's very first public skate park.

Ok, I don't usually post personal things, but here's why I'm still going to Nairobi this Fall:
The idea of #travelingabroad alone has always haunted me..
This is one of the very first doc series I created with Glenn Quentin. The Heights follows a group of black & latinx actors living in Washington Heights, who are also performing in the musical, “The Heights.”
I remember visibly shaking when I first heard Taylonn Murphy Sr. tell this story. The cruelty and lack of empathy involved in how the officer regarded the boy is exactly the sort of trauma over-policing invites into our neighborhoods.
We're back! Episode 1 of Season 2 is here: Eric B. for Presi- *cough* Eric Holder for President? Plus, we introduce a new spin-off series - "Single 30 Suck." Plus! Rashonda debuts her new single "Is it Late?" - Paul Notice Like. Share. Love.
