Remembering the 2017 "Swipe it Forward" Campaign

In 2017, Why Accountability and other New York activist groups joined together to provide free swipes to commuters in the Bronx, East New York, East Harlem, and other places targeted for fare-beating arrests. Demonstrators repeated to commuters and observing police officers that “Poverty is not a crime”, and that it is entirely legal to offer free swipes to fellow commuters.

07.04.20 | Warriors Fun Run 2020

It’s been nearly a year since I’ve first biked with Nyle, Aisha, Katrina on a Warriors Bike Run.

Think the 1979 cult classic “The Warriors,” except we bike from the Bronx - all the way back down to Coney Island for a showdown between the finalists.

And I’m finally releasing a cut of what I shot on my iPhone that night.

Btw, our crew was the Joint Council - we dressed as retired day-traders-turned-pot enthusiasts - Because you dress for the job you WANT. J/K. No Rowling.

From the Archives: 06.19.19 "Sweet Water: The Return of Black Communal Living"

Community is key.⁣

I’ve been thinking about Community more often, since editing “Sweet Water” a short doc about Black communal spaces, & as the name implies; a Black commune in Southside Chicago, called “Sweet Water.” Fortunately, some good friends, Alex Antoine & Aaliyah Cristine, introduced me to this place.

Here’s some test footage for an upcoming project. I figured it’d need a decent tune to accompany it. And two hours later, this came out. 🖤

Over the years, I’ve made countless little short songs for myself, friends, loved ones, clients - even dates.
Some have words.
Some don’t.
Many are in a cappella.
They aren’t the most polished.
But they’re original.

And they’re me.

Kyle Dion | Brown + Cool Side of the Pillow + Interviews

Back in 2017, I interviewed an artist by the name of Kyle Dion at Okay Space - the performance was one of a kind. Literally. It was the only acoustic version of his single, “Brown.” And the song had evolved so dramatically from the studio version, it was worth me scrounging through old files and contracts to see I had clearance to post it after a given amount. And thankfully, I did. So enjoy this ode to Black Love and Music.
